Train to Gain

The Train to Gain project is a Learning & Skills Council initiative to encourage employers to train existing staff to achieve a full NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualifications.  Not only does the Train to Gain programme provide FREE training for your staff, companies with up to 249 employees’ will be entitled to wage compensation to cover up to 70 hours “training leave” for each employee enrolled onto an NVQ Level 2 or 3.

Train to Gain offers:

  • free staff training for employees’ first full NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Administration, Customer Service, Team Leader, Retail & Health & Social Care

  • free staff training for Skills for Life (Literacy and Numeracy)

  • wage compensation paid on completion of certification

  • tailored training to match your business requirements

  • training delivered in the work place

  • virtually no employer paperwork to complete

* All courses maybe subject to LSC and ESF eligibility and funding guidelines, which may include age restrictions on some courses.  But we would encourage everyone to apply and we will be happy to give you advice on alternative learning options.



Train to Gain is totally funded by the government and is available to employees who:

  • have not previously gained a full NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification (5 GCSE grades A-C)

  • have literacy or numeracy needs (Skills for Life)

  • are aged over 19 and have been a UK resident for 3 years
