Health & Social Care
Care Home Managers understand how difficult it is to find employees with the right skills and you know how difficult it is to keep skilled employees. The solution is simple; employees need continuous development and training. HYA Training can help you train new and existing employees in NVQ level 2, Level 3, Level 4 and Registered Manager.
HYA Training Programme - HYA offer training and support to employers who are looking to employ new Apprentices and also employers looking to train existing staff to NVQ standards.
Apprenticeship Framework - The Apprenticeship courses are work-based; this means the majority of the employee's time will be spent learning the job while working with an employer.
The Apprenticeship itself is based around learning the skills connected with care duties and providing evidence of what you have done. The majority of this evidence will be collected in a portfolio, and will include items such as written work, observation reports and witness testimonies from supervisors etc. Once you have gained enough evidence to meet the criteria for the NVQ, it is verified by the awarding body, and you gain your qualification.
In order to help employees achieve the qualification, training is given in the latest care practices, and in the different types of care duties such as personal care and moving & handling. This will give you theoretical and practical knowledge, to support your job role in the workplace. At HYA Training some of this may be done during 'off-the-job' training sessions at our training centre.
How it Works - Prior to starting the training all candidates undertake an initial assessment, which together with your previous qualifications and past experience, help determine the right level of training for the individual.
Your HYA Training assessor, together with your work placement, will then help you plan a programme of development.
The Apprenticeship Framework - Health and Social Care Apprenticeship are aimed at staff working in a variety of residential environments, from care for the elderly, to caring for people with learning difficulties. (Unfortunately this course is not intended for candidates looking to go into the childcare area. This is covered by a separate NVQ qualification, which HYA Training does not currently deliver).
HYA Training offers the Health and Social Care Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship - Is aimed at individuals whose training and work role involves carrying out a broad range of care duties, requiring a limited amount of supervision and working with some responsibility.
Advanced Apprenticeship - Is aimed at individuals whose training and work role involves carrying out care duties with a considerable amount of responsibility. The individual will be contributing to the development and implementation of care practices within the organisation, and have a substantial amount of experience working in a care environment.
As well as the NVQ, the Apprenticeship Framework includes: Key Skills Qualifications, which you may have already come across either through school or college. Key Skills have been designed to allow candidates to prove they also have the relevant employability skills needed in today's workplace; and cover the following areas:
-
Communication
-
Application of Number
Key Skills are similar to NVQ's in that they are mainly evidence based and require candidates to show that they have reached the required national standard.
As well as Key Skills, candidates are also required to achieve 2 enhancements that can either be short courses or additional units from the Care or another NVQ.
Although this may seem like a lot of extra work on top of your NVQ, much of the evidence you collect will apply to both qualifications. HYA will help you decide which evidence is the most appropriate.
